Survive an apartment block full of nightmares

perishment. is a free horror game authored by indie developer ohm_ena. Here, you control a young red-haired woman who steps out into the expanse of her apartment block to investigate a series of screams and other creepy noises. Stumbling upon an injured man and his dead wife, she tries to escape the building—but evil stands in her way.

perishment. is comparable to Resident Evil but with the claustrophobic exploration of stealth horror 2Dark from Gloomywood. It also adopted the premise of Stephen King's short story, 1408. Note, however, that this is a demo version so the content will be limited.

A mix of classic tropes

perishment. is a survival horror experience with a classic visual style inspired by some of the genre's greatest hits. Here, your character will go on a creepy adventure as she tries to get out of her apartment block. As mentioned, the game adopted the premise of Stephen King's classic. With this, expect a nightmarish experience as you go through the inescapable terrors of every room.

Not only that, but it also seems to riff on the classic psychological horror trope of ever-changing surroundings—similar to John Carpenters' In the Mouth of Madness. The game will scare you witless with terrifying visions, such as a black abyss full of red eyes watching your every move. There will also be a long-haired shadow person and a tidal wave of blood that you will encounter along the way.

This is the perfect pixel horror game to play with the lights out. It comes with a great sound design, good pacing, and a creepy all-around atmosphere that will give you nightmares after playing. However, as hugely promising as it may look, the game is not a full version. As of this writing, it is still in the demo stage. With this, the gameplay is relatively short.

Scary but short

If you are into classic horror games, then perishment. is worth picking up. The game offers a creepy experience that can give you the chills for hours on end. The art style, sound design, pacing, and overall atmosphere are all fantastic. It is short since it's a demo but the experience will leave you wanting more. Overall, a full version of this game is definitely welcome.
